SUMMARY:The Salmagundi Club is coming to the Wieghorst!
DESCRIPTION:The New York Salmagundi Club was established in 1871 by a sculptor and his 2 brothers. As one of the oldest American art clubs many notable artists were past members; Thomas Moran\, Louis Tiffany\, N.C. Wyeth\, Norman Rockwell\, Dana Gibson and Howard Pyle to name a few. \nThe club is promoting plein air painting (painting outside in natural sunlight) by asking Salmagundi members to put on a free event\, beginning in September to encourage plein air painting. \nLocal Salmagundi members have partnered with the Olaf Wieghorst Museum to host an event Friday\, September 17\, 2021 in the cactus garden or surrounding area. \nThe artists will paint from 9 to 12\, break for a one hour lunch\, return to the garden for a critique and then artists may choose to exhibit their completed work in the Wieghorst Museum for 6 weeks. 30% of any sale will go to benefit the Museum. \nFor detailed information contact Gloria Chadwick at 619 203-0607 or gloriaachadwick@gmail.com.
